Aphrodisiacs
Chapter 2
In the search for aphrodisiacs, many animal products were also
investigated, one of the most well known being Spanish Fly. It is
not in fact made from flies, but crushed blister beetle. It was
made world famous in 1772 when the Marquis de Sade spiked a number
of prostitute's drinks with it to facilitate an orgy. The girls
were killed from the poison and the Marquis was put on trial!
Also
popular is ambergris, which is a very potent and expensive product
derived from whales and often used in high-end perfumes. Many tiger
parts such as the penis, bones, fat and liver are still being used
in South East Asia to make a powerful aphrodisiac soup meant to
increase sexual desire and performance. Although they are still
being used, it was not until 1993 that the People's Republic of
China even declared it illegal to use tiger and rhino parts for
medical reasons due to their endangered species status!
In Asia,
it is commonly believed that drinking snake's blood will make a
male more potent and in Saigon, there is actually a bar that will
serve you cobra's blood - although they usually mix it with liquor!
Other common animals products sought either currently or in past
for their sexual powers include: bile from a jackal, black ants,
boar's gall, donkey's milk, fat from a camel's hump, languor's flesh,
leeches, lion tailed macaque's flesh, lizards, reindeer antlers,
rhino penis and horns, shark fins, and toads. Utilization of many
of these aphrodisiacs is little more risky and often illegal. Besides,
in North America, one doesn't often encounter rhino penis at the
local butcher shop.
As we all know what a couple of drinks do to arouse us, it is
no surprise that alcohol and various other drugs are largely known
to be aphrodisiacs. One of the newest and more scientifically advanced
aphrodisiac is the much hyped Viagara - the wonder drug of the decade!
Another well publicized drug these days that is known as the "love
drug" is the illegal substance ecstasy - purported to greatly
enhance the sexual experience. Marijuana and cocaine are other widely
used illegal drugs that are known to heighten the pleasures of sex.
Some other chemicals or drugs that are currently being used as aphrodisiacs
include: alkyl nitrites, anafranil, anti-Parkinson drugs, chlorophenylalanine,
yohimbe and yohimbine. When it comes to any of these substances,
it is strongly recommended that you only take something that your
doctor has prescribed. Many of these drugs can be dangerous if not
taken properly, so stay away from anything that you don't fully
understand the effects of, and as for the illegal drugs, this site
in no way endorses the use any of them.
As previously mentioned, the use of aphrodisiacs can be fun and
you will find that some will work, while others may not. There are
a lot of strange things in the market place, and the best advice
is buyer beware. Many of these products are not endorsed by health
regulatory agencies and their long term effects are not fully understood.
Be careful to only sample products that are known to be safe and
if you have a medical condition, consult your doctor before trying
any new substance.
If you want to experiment with aphrodisiacs,
stay with foods, herbs and spices and products that you are familiar
with. You may also want to include experimentation with scents and
perfumes as aphrodisiacs.
Worth mentioning before you get started
is that the biggest aphrodisiac of all is the human brain, and if
you can stimulate your lover's senses in both a physical and emotional
or spiritual way, you will activate the body's natural chemicals,
and that is the most powerful aphrodisiac of all!
Presentation is
key. You will definitely notice a marked difference in responses
to aphrodisiacs based on how they are administered. A romantic or
exciting setting is best and you'll find the reaction significantly
more pronounced if both parties are in the know. Above all have
fun with them and remember that whether they actually work or not
may depend on your willingness to believe.
